So you’ve decided that you’re going on vacation. You’ve got the budget budgeted, the time taken off from work, and a few ideal locations in mind to settle down the excited tourist that’s been hopping around in your brain for the past few years.
The question now becomes – how am I going to get where I’m going? And yes, there are a few immediate stipulations before answering that question. Are you going alone? Are you traveling with a significant other? Is your whole family tagging along? But once you’ve answered that question, the four methods of transportation below will whet your whistle for knowledge about what type of transport you’re going to take.
By Plane
Probably the most common way to get where you’re going is by plane. For those lucky enough to have the cash flow, traveling in a private plane will take the experience to the next level as well. For people who are looking for cheaper endeavors, there are ways to get fairly discounted rates on certain airlines by manipulating where you’re purchasing the tickets from, and also data regarding one way or round trip tickets. Certain days of the week will also save you some cash.
By Train
Trains are also a fascinating way to go on vacation. The journey will be slower and more relaxed, you can carry more luggage with you, you can watch the scenery go by, and the overall vibe will be much more adventurous that just hopping on a plane and being in a new place in a few hours time. Be sure to read tips for train travel before heading out though, as you don’t want to get caught by surprise with any of the timing issues, or even things like passports if you’re heading from one country to another.
By Automobile
Driving isn’t for everyone when it comes to heading out on vacation, but it is most definitely the preferred method of travel for certain types of people. If the idea of the open road, of motels along the highway, and the ability to bend and flex on schedules appeals to you, then vacation travel by car may be your best option. Just be sure whoever is traveling with you shares the same respect for long hours in small spaces.
On Foot
If you’re really up for the adventure of a lifetime, then consider heading out on foot. There are fascinating stories of world travelers that have nothing but their two feet to get them to where they’re going. And they never come back regretting it, so it might be something to consider if you’re ready for something completely different and life changing, as it were.
