I am quite excited about AMD‘s recent announcement of a new graphics solution that will allow laptop computers to show high quality graphics that are perfect for gaming.
The new technology is called the XGP. It is an external graphics solution that revolves around the concept of having discrete graphics modules that are placed inside an external enclosure. It is from these modules that laptops are connected. The XGP is fully optimized to work with the Turion X2 Ultra notebooks, which was also recently announced.
The XGP is actually quite versatile. It is not only a good solution for mobile gaming, AMD claims that a number of it can be chained together, much like the popular Crossfire and SLI solutions. But instead of doing it inside the CPU, it can be done externally, which is more convenient
Fujitsu has already announced that they will build and offer an XGP solution under their brand.
