Digital Cameras with Built-In Printers

A startup called Zink and the venerable Polaroid are working on a digital version of the Poloroid camera – a digital camera with a built-in printer.

They’re not actually building the camera but developing technology that miniaturizes printers small enough to fit in digital cameras.

The secret is that, instead of ink, the paper itself is capable of turning any color and the printer heads simply tell each “pixel” on the paper what color to turn.

Bad Behavior 2.0.10 Released

Heads up my blogging friends, Bad Behavior 2.0.10 has been released. It is a maintenance/bug fix release.

According to Michael Hampton, the creator of Bad Behavior, this is an optional upgrade for those of us already running version 2.0.9.

If you are running an older version, it’s highly recommended to update as soon as possible.

Also, for those of you using PHP 5.2.0 or later, this is a critical upgrade, so download it right away.

Skype Logo The Skype development team has been busy the past week as they’ve now done two bug fix releases.

If you use Skype like me, be sure to grab the latest version for your Operating System of choice.

Here’s what changed in the last two Skype releases:

31.01.2007 version 3.0.0.214

Known issue: Skype Extras Manager displays error messages on launching some of the plug-ins under Windows’ Limited User account
bugfix: SkypePM.exe crashes on first start after installation
bugfix: Russian language display problems in updater
bugfix: Groups panel stayed open when user was changed
bugfix: Contact list focus was lost when using some toolbar buttons

bugfix: Updated Internet Explorer and Firefox plugins

Skype has come a long way in the past 2.5 years that I’ve been using it and I only see more good things to come from the Skype development team.

I’ve got pretty much all my clients, friends and family using it now and with all the cool new phones and accessories they have for sale, Skype is becoming a really good solution for many home and business VOIP users.

Microsoft Browser Rival Mozilla Eyes China

The Mozilla Project, creator and provider of the award-winning Firefox web browser and one of the most popular browser alternatives to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, is setting up a China office to do battle in the world’s second-largest Web market.

California-based Mozilla already has a presence in China via a not-for-profit Foundation supporting open-source software projects, but the Beijing office will be its first real corporate presence, Mozilla Chief Operating Officer John Lilly said in a telephone interview with Reuters this morning.

It’s not our goal to make sure that everyone in the world is using Firefox. My main goal is that people know there’s a choice – that going on the Internet is not just clicking the blue ‘E’.

Open-source software is intended to be copied and modified freely by users, leaving developers to make money from selling features and technical support, unlike paid-for proprietary software such as Microsoft’s Windows operating system.
