It’s been almost a full year since Chris Pederick has updated his wonderful Firefox Web Developer extension but today as sort of a birthday present to me, not that Chris knew it was my birthday, but he released a new version.
The Web Developer extension adds a menu and a toolbar to the browser with various web developer tools.
This browser extension is a “must have” for any web developer and because Chris is so good with his coding skills, not only does it work with Firefox, which is my browser of choice, he also designed this extension to work with Flock and Seamonkey as well.
It will basically run on any platform that these browsers support including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
There are a ton of feature enhancements, code improvements, bug fixes and some new options in this release.
Some of the new features I’m pleased to see:
- Disable Proxy
- Disable Strict JavaScript Warnings
- Display Abbreviations
- Display Page Magnifier
- Display Page Validation
- Outline Images With Oversized Dimensions
- Outline Links With Ping Attributes
- Outline Table Captions
- Validate Local Accessibility
Chris still has a pretty long “To-Do” list according to his Web Developer project page, so hopefully it won’t be another year before he updates his extension again.
If you read this Chris, happy belated birthday to you and thanks for your wonderful extension. Happy New Year as well!
