So Google is upset that Microsoft has made MSN the default search engine in Internet Explorer 7 but Microsoft claims changing to another search provider is easy enough for most people.
Google said in a news report “consumers should be given the opportunity to choose a search engine when installing IE 7, rather than have Microsoft choose for them” and I totally agree.
According to the report I read “Google has not filed any formal complaints against Microsoft but it has discussed the matter with the European Commission, which is investigating whether Microsoft’s handling of Vista is an abuse of its monopoly in desktop operating systems” so it would seem Google is ready to jump all over Microsoft if Bill Gates and his team decide to play another game of monopoly.
For my Tech savy friends, you’ll recall that Microsoft was declared an illegal monopoly back in September 1998 when something similar was brought up about Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator.
Speaking of Microsoft, I recently received DVD copies of the Microsoft hearings from 1998. It was crazy to see Bill Gates rock back and forth like Rainman when questioned by the United States Government lawyers.
If you haven’t seen these DVD’s, they’re a must watch for sure.
