It’s very convenient to travel these days what with the various mobile gadgets you can easily bring along. With these portable electronic devices, you can continue with your work or write down your personal experiences.
One problem, though, that many gadget owners encounter these days is negligence. They feel confident bringing their stuff around but sometimes forget to keep them safe.
Take the case of those who often have the habit of leaving their laptops inside their vehicles. This should be avoided as much as possible as it only attracts criminals looking for something to steal from your car. But in case you need to leave it there, here are ways to keep your laptop safe inside your vehicle.
Turn It Off
As a rule of thumb, you should turn off your laptop if you plan on leaving it inside your car. Keep in mind that heat is the number one enemy of a computer. It can do more harm such as reducing your laptop’s life, loosening the motherboard’s components and destroying the device in its entirety. Hence, avoid putting your laptop in sleep mode or simply hibernating it. Always shut it down.
Put It Inside Its Bag
Laptop bags are readily available these days in varied colors, sizes and styles. They are very useful particularly for the frequent travelers and since they’re padded, they protect your device from bumps and scratches. You can even get a stylish one that would not be obvious to thieves that a laptop is inside your bag.
Keep It Out Of Sight
If you’re traveling on the road, do keep your laptop hidden inside. You can hide it inside a compartment or underneath the seats. Other options are the trunk or covering it with a jacket.
Many people put their laptop exposed on the passenger seat while traveling by car. This habit, however, can cause your device to be stolen such as when you pump gas during which you need to get out of your car. Anybody within close range can reach in your vehicle and get your laptop unnoticed.
Be Mindful of the Temperature
Extreme temperatures can cause damage to your laptop hence make sure to avoid exposing your gadget to high heat or very cold weather. If this is unavoidable, an important tip to follow is always leave your device to room temperature before turning it on. This will prevent condensation which can cause more harm to your laptop.
Remember that in extreme winter temperatures, an electronic device’s battery will most likely die and its LCD screen will start experiencing problems or also die completely. For this reason, it is a must to keep your laptop inside its case or bag to protect it from cold weather.
