Sometimes the most complex technology can be applied to the simplest application and this morning while doing some GPS information research for a project I’m working on, I found this geektastic toy:
It’s called RoamEO – GPS. It’s basically GPS technology integrated right into a dog collar. Sweet!
RoamEO is an exciting new product that enables dog owners to quickly and easily locate their pets. Using a GPS-enabled collar, RoamEO can pinpoint your dog’s location and show you where he’s heading. It’s that simple. Now each time you put on your dog’s collar, it comes with the extraordinary advantage of knowing that you can locate your pet at anytime.
I don’t have to worry about Roxy running off at home because we have a fenced in yard but I do take her for walks and to a dog park once in a while where I take her off the leash, so this is a cool gadget to have.
The units will cost around $450.00 USD and will come with the RoamEO Locator with color LCD, one GPS collar and AC Adapters.
Additional collars are available for $149.00 USD and include one GPS collar and AC Adapter. The units will start shipping sometime in October 2006.
The price tag is a little high but thinking about it, my Magellan Meridian Gold GPS was around $300.00 USD.
Now I need to get back to my mission critical GPS project that’s due in less then a week. Yay for time crunches and not enough hours in the day.
