I have seen HP’s 11.6 inch netbook, the Mini 311, and I am liking it. How hard is it to like a diminutive netbook rocking a 11366 x 768 pixel display along with NVIDIA ION graphics, and HDMI output? If this rumor is true, then this is going to be the ultimate portable notebook.

Dell Latitude Z was leaked in June and till date we maintain that it looks hot. Now the word comes from Forbes is that Latitude Z will get its official unveiling in the coming weeks along with an interesting feature.
The Latitude Z will support wireless charging. How it works is still a mystery but we can expect something on the lines of previous concepts like Wildcharge or Palm’s Touchstone.
I’m pretty sure that the charging will be kind of a hassle more than an advantage, but whatever will push us more towards full wireless charging for ultimate portability, I’m for it.

Windows Media Center users will be happy to know that Netflix is now OFFICIALLY supported.
This is the first time Netflix will have official support for Microsoft’s media-optimized OS even though users of the WMC have been using a workaround to access Netflix. When the DVD distribution company began offering streaming video services, some programmers were able to create small apps that allowed them to view the content on the Media Center. But since it was unofficial, these apps had a tendency to break down and suffer from glitches especially when Netflix makes changes from their end. It also requires an advanced level of technical knowhow to make it work. The official support for Netflix now eliminates all of these difficulties.
The new Netflix app uses Silverlight to present a seamless interface and easy video streaming capabilities. The app will even guide users in installing Silverlight in case they haven’t downloaded and installed it in their PCs yet.

By this time, Microsoft has already released the updates that will fix vulnerabilities in some of its products. Some of those that are affected by these fixes are the vulnerability in DirectShow that was first mentioned in May and also zero-day vulnerability that was only noticed in the last few days.
it should be noted that three of the six bulletins that Microsoft issued directly affect Windows and are considered critical fixes for both Windows XP and Windows 2000. Actually, even the first one, which has been given the Windows 1 tag has been identified as critical on practically all Windows platforms. The second flaw is for the aforementioned DirectX capability. The last one, on the other hand is critical on Windows XP and moderate threat on Windows Server 2003. The remaining three vulnerabilities are considered not very crucial but still should be addressed though.
So if you guys haven’t installed these new updates yet and you didn’t activate automatic updating, go and visit the Microsoft site and download these fixes.

You can expect to purchase netbooks running Moblin 2.0 soon, according to Liliputing.
Intel Open Source Technology Centre Imad Sousou says that vendors will begin announcing netbooks running Moblin 2.0 within the next week or two. The news came out of an interview with ZDNet UK, where Sousou discussed the current state of Moblin Linux. The operating system is optimized for use on netbooks, particularly those with low power processors like the Intel Atom, and small screens with resolutions of 1024 x 600 pixels or lower.
Intel was originally the driving force behind Moblin, and still kind of is. But management of the project has been handed over to the Linux Foundation. But the custom Linux distribution is designed to play well with netbooks by introducing power saving features, quick boot optimizations for Atom and other processors, and a custom user interface that makes it easy to treat a netbook almost more as a web-centric consumer electronics device than a computer.
Moblin Linux is one of my favorite distros so far and I’m pretty excited to see it available in a netbook in the future.
