Going through my mail today I received a post dated check from a client of mine which is normally fine… I hold the check until the date on it, then deposit the check into my bank account… but looking at the check a little closer, they put the date January 3, 2004… we are now in 2005… so it’s not a post dated check, it’s a back dated check… it also has the following pre-printed on the check “not valid after 90 days”, so basically this check is no good to me and I will need to contact my client on Monday for a new check.
Moral of the story… we’re now in the year 2005, so when you write out checks to “whoever”, be sure to put the correct year on it… save you and them a lot of headache.
