portable – carried or moved with ease
app – a computer program like a web browser or word processorA portable app is a computer program that you can carry around with you on a portable device and use on any Windows computer. When your USB thumbdrive, portable hard drive, iPod or other portable device is plugged in, you have access to your software and personal data just as you would on your own PC. And when you unplug the device, none of your personal data is left behind.
As most of my friends know, I’m a geek. I love technology and I really love portable technolgy. Don’t believe me? Just take a look at my domain name if you have any question: HaveLaptopWillTravel.com. Ok, moving on…
Since early January I’ve been using a lot of portable applications for all kinds of things in my every day personal and work life and figured it was time to share in the knowledge, so for anyone who reads my blog and is into portable technology, then you need to check out PortableApps.com.
For anyone who’s in the technology business and is a true road warrior, this is a great resource for all kinds of portable applications: Firefox, Thunderbird, OpenOffice and GIMP just to name a few.
Take a moment and check it out. You’ll be glad you did.
